The Pencil Fund is a non-profit organisation that exists to solve one specific problem: talented students across India have ideas worth building, but no way to fund them.

Every year, thousands of students design genuinely valuable projects — technical, scientific, social, creative. Most never get finished. Not because the idea wasn't strong, or the student wasn't capable, but because the money simply wasn't available to build it.

What we do is provide opportunity to the people who want to support real innovation through their donations and to support the students trying to create it. Donations come into a shared fund. Every application that comes in is reviewed and scored by independent industry experts in that exact field — not by us, and not by opinion. The strongest, most promising projects are selected on merit alone.

Once a project is chosen, we don't hand over cash. We buy exactly what the student needs — the components, the tools, the materials — and deliver it directly. Every rupee is tracked, and every contributor gets a clear report on what their support built.

Anyone can be part of this. An individual giving what they can, or an institution giving at scale — both go through the exact same process, tracked the exact same way.

The name is intentional. A pencil is the tool of someone still sketching, still figuring things out — the exact phase where most good ideas quietly disappear. We exist so fewer of them do.
